The Derwent contract mattress has a breathable waterproof fabric and is used on a large scale throughout the contract market. The fabric has anti-bacterial properties and is easy to wipe clean. It has a 13.5 gauge open coil spring unit and a 9g full wire support frame and luxury fillings for additional comfort and support. The Derwent can be used with any type of base.

The qualities of this mattress include:
• Open Coil: An open coil mattress has a spring support system of hundreds of interconnected springs joined together to make a spring bed. The interconnected springs perform as a single system, rather than each spring operating independently like with pocket springs. They have a more traditional feel than a pocket sprung mattress and can have a firmer feel for those who prefer it. Whilst not as supportive as pocket springs, open coil mattresses provide the same comfort level and are more common within standard mattresses.
• Foam Fillings: Foam Fillings are common in many mattresses. Foam provides the firmness a mattress requires, providing the traditional feel.
